===================================================================== CERT-Renater Note d'Information No. 2014/VULN252 _____________________________________________________________________ DATE : 12/11/2014 HARDWARE PLATFORM(S): / OPERATING SYSTEM(S): Systems running Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. ====================================================================== KB3003057 https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms14-065 ______________________________________________________________________ MS14-065 Critical Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (3003057) Version: 1.0 Published Date: November 11, 2014 General Information Executive Summary This security update resolves seventeen privately reported vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. The most severe of these vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user. Customers whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights. This security update is rated Critical for Internet Explorer 6 (IE 6), Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7), Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8), Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9), Internet Explorer 10 (IE 10), and Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) on affected Windows clients, and Moderate for Internet Explorer 6 (IE 6), Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7), Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8), Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9), Internet Explorer 10 (IE 10), and Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) on affected Windows servers. For more information, see the Affected Software section. Affected Software Internet Explorer 6 Internet Explorer 7 Internet Explorer 8 Internet Explorer 9 Internet Explorer 10 Internet Explorer 11 Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2003 with SP2 for Itanium-based Systems Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Windows Vista x64 Edition Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2008 for 32-bit Systems Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2008 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-based Systems Service Pack 2 Windows 7 for 32-bit Systems Service Pack 1 Windows 7 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1 Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1 Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-based Systems Service Pack 1 Windows 8 for 32-bit Systems Windows 8 for x64-based Systems Windows 8.1 for 32-bit Systems Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems Windows Server 2012 Windows Server 2012 R2 Windows RT Windows RT 8.1 Vulnerability Information Multiple Memory Corruption Vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer - CVE-2014-4143, CVE-2014-6337, CVE-2014-6341, CVE-2014-6342, CVE-2014-6343, CVE-2014-6344, CVE-2014-6347, CVE-2014-6348, CVE-2014-6351, CVE-2014-6353 Remote code execution vulnerabilities exist when Internet Explorer improperly accesses objects in memory. These vulnerabilities could corrupt memory in such a way that an attacker could execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. The update addresses the vulnerabilities by modifying the way that Internet Explorer handles objects in memory. Multiple Elevation of Privilege Vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer - CVE-2014-6349, CVE-2014-6350 Elevation of privilege vulnerabilities exist when Internet Explorer does not properly validate permissions under specific conditions, potentially allowing script to be run with elevated privileges. The update addresses the vulnerabilities by adding additional permission validations to Internet Explorer. Multiple Internet Explorer Cross-domain Information Disclosure Vulnerabilities - CVE-2014-6340, CVE-2014-6345, CVE-2014-6346 Information disclosure vulnerabilities exist when Internet Explorer does not properly enforce cross-domain policies, which could allow an attacker to gain access to information in another domain or Internet Explorer zone. The update addresses the vulnerabilities by helping to ensure cross-domain policies are properly enforced in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer Clipboard Information Disclosure Vulnerability - CVE-2014-6323 An information disclosure vulnerability exists when Internet Explorer does not properly restrict access to the clipboard of a user who visits a website. The vulnerability could allow data stored on the Windows clipboard to be accessed by a malicious site. An attacker could collect information from the clipboard of a user if that user visits the malicious site. The update addresses the vulnerability by helping to prevent information stored on a users clipboard from being accessed by a malicious site. Internet Explorer ASLR Bypass Vulnerability CVE-2014-6339 A security feature bypass vulnerability exists when Internet Explorer does not use the Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) security feature, which could allow an attacker to more reliably predict the memory offsets of specific instructions in a given call stack. The update addresses the vulnerability by helping to ensure that affected versions of Internet Explorer properly implement the ASLR security feature. ========================================================= Serveur de référence du CERT-Renater https://services.renater.fr/ssi/ ========================================================== + CERT-RENATER | tel : 01-53-94-20-44 + + 23 - 25 Rue Daviel | fax : 01-53-94-20-41 + + 75013 Paris | email: cert@support.renater.fr + ==========================================================
