    Solution Type: Sun Alert
Solution 237965 : A Security Vulnerability in IP Multicast Filter
processing of Sockets may lead to a system panic or possible execution
    of Arbitrary Code
    Bug ID: 6597712

    Product
    Solaris 10 Operating System, OpenSolaris

    Date of Resolved Release: 12-Jun-2008

    SA Document Body
A Security Vulnerability in IP Multicast Filter processing of Sockets
may lead to a system panic or possible execution of Arbitrary Code

    1. Impact
A security vulnerability in the Solaris 10 IP (see ip(7P)) kernel
module relating to setting a socket's multicast filter may allow a
local unprivileged user the ability to panic the system or execute
arbitrary commands with all privileges. The ability to panic a system
is a type of Denial of Service (DoS).

    ar_wput
    putnext
    strdoioctl
    strioctl
    spec_ioctl
    fop_ioctl
    ioctl
    sys_sysenter
