1. Impact

    Due to a vulnerability in the Solaris sysinfo(2) system call, a local
    unprivileged user may be able to read portions of kernel memory, which
    may contain sensitive data.

    to our attention.

2. Contributing Factors

    This issue can occur in the following releases:

    SPARC Platform
      * Solaris 10 without patch 118833-09

    x86 Platform
      * Solaris 10 without patch 118855-06

    Note: Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 are not affected by this issue.

3. Symptoms

    There are no reliable symptoms that would indicate that this issue has
    been exploited to read portions of kernel memory.

4. Relief/Workaround

    There is no workaround to this issue. Please see the Resolution
    section below.

5. Resolution

    This issue is addressed in the following releases:

    SPARC Platform
      * Solaris 10 with patch 118833-09 or later

    x86 Platform
      * Solaris 10 with patch 118855-06 or later
