1. Impact

    A local unprivileged user may be able to gain additional privileges
    due to a security issue in the C library (libc(3LIB)) and
    libproject(3LIB).

2. Contributing Factors

    This issue can occur in the following releases:

    SPARC Platform
      * Solaris 10 without patch 119689-02

    x86 Platform
      * Solaris 10 without patch 118345-03

    Note: Solaris 7, Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 are not impacted by this
    issue.

3. Symptoms

    There are no reliable symptoms that would indicate the described issue
    has been exploited to gain unauthorized elevated privileges.

4. Relief/Workaround

    There is no workaround. Please see the "Resolution" section below.

5. Resolution

    This issue is addressed in the following releases:

    SPARC Platform
      * Solaris 10 with patch 119689-02 or later

    x86 Platform
      * Solaris 10 with patch 118345-03 or later
