Impact Access to Sun Cluster globally mounted file systems may become slow or hang when multiple processes are operating on the same file. A reboot of all the nodes connected to the storage unit which hosts the file system may be necessary. 2. Contributing Factors This issue can occur in the following releases: SPARC Platform * SunCluster 3.0 for Solaris 8 without patch 110648-34 * SunCluster 3.0 for Solaris 9 without patch 112563-16 * SunCluster 3.1 for Solaris 8 without patch [2]113800-12 * SunCluster 3.1 for Solaris 9 without patch [3]113801-12 Note: Sun Cluster 2.2 is not affected by this issue The described issue only occurs on globally mounted file systems. 3. Symptoms If the described issue occurs, messages similar to the following will be logged to the "/var/adm/messages" file: "**WARNING: ignoring hole in write" Solution Summary [4]Top 4. Relief/Workaround To work around the described issue, convert the globally mounted file system into a Failover File System (FFS) using the HAStoragePlus (SUNW.HAStoragePlus(5)) agent. 5.
